A Kalkan Haven - Villa Barinak & Leb-i-Derya's location

Villa Barinak & Leb I Derya are located on the Kalamar Road, on the quiet outskirts of the picturesque fishing village of Kalkan, which is set in the heart of the old Lycean region. The location is the best of both worlds: a peaceful setting with Kalkan's centre a short walk away.

The villa is situated at the front of a small select development of privately owned villas and apartments, one of which is Leb I Derya. The site has 24-hour security and maintenance, as well as an excellent maid service (linen change twice weekly).

As the site is in an elevated position, it affords lovely views of the bays and surrounding hills. The road up to the complex is quite steep, so may not be suitable for the elderly or infirm (although my 86 year old mother managed it!).

The nearest shop 'Gule Gule' is on the road from the villa into the centre, on the left-hand side. It is less than a 10 minute walk.

At the bottom of the road, there is the excellent Elixir Hotel and villa guests may make use of their two pools and jacuzzi. They also have a bar and restaurant. They also have a full Turkish bath & massage facility. Guests may also make use of the super facilities at the nearby Asfiya Hotel. For more info on local beaches, visit our 'Sun n Sea' page.

For those who just can't be parted from the internet or their emails, Kalkan has 3 internet cafes which charge very little. We tend to use the one on the market road, just up from the roundabout on the left. Be warned, the Turkish keyboard is slightly different, as they have extra characters. The assistant will be happy to show you how to use it.

There are three banks with ATMs, dispensing Euros or Turkish Lire. The Post Office also has a currency exchange.

If you're feeling adventurous, the Turkish public transport system is worth trying! There is an overnight coach to Istanbul (about 12 hours), or you could just hop on one of the numerous dolmus minibuses that depart regularly for Patara, Kas, Fethiye and many other destinations.

The villa is about a 15 minute stroll from the centre of Kalkan and beach, however taxis are plentiful for those feeling less energetic, although they're not as cheap as they used to be!
